Marilyn attended Houston Elementary School, Roosevelt Junior High and graduated from Germantown High School, Class of 1940. After graduating from High School she was employed by the John Wanamaker Department Store as a sales person. On September 6, 1941 she married Ensign Edward M. Ward, U.S. Navy. Their first duty station was the Naval Air Station, Corpus Christi, Texas. Subsequently she and their five children made twenty-five permanent moves during a period of thirty years.
