Obituary of Dorothy Palermo
Palermo, Dorothy Virginia (nee Huzzard) 92 of Ocean City, NJ passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2013. Mrs. Palermo was born on December 3, 1920 in York, PA and was the youngest of nine children of Maude and Charles Huzzard. She graduated from York High School in 1939 and moved to Washington, DC to attend Strayer Business School. While there, she sang in a light opera company and met her future husband Nicholas Palermo in 1941. During World War II, she lived in Washington and worked at the Department of Agriculture and the War Department. When Nick returned from Europe in 1946, they married and moved to Nick's hometown of Ocean City, NJ. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church where she played the piano for the Sunday School class for many years. Mrs. Palermo loved to cook, garden, read and play games with her grandchildren. Surviving are her husband, Nicholas L. Palermo, sons Nicholas and his wife Nancy, John and his wife Judy, Edward and his wife Susan, and daughter Mary Katherine McKeon. She was a wonderful grandmother to her eight grandchildren, Conrad, Dustin, Molly, Sally, Nicole, David, Ryan and Kevin. Her Funeral Service and Interment were private.
