Obituary of Peter Harp
Peter Harp, a long term resident of Beesley’s Point and former owner of Tuckahoe Inn passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023 at the age of 84. Some of Peter’s fondest memories were of growing up in Brigantine, NJ. Peter moved with his family to Ocean City, NJ during his high school years where he graduated in 1956. Peter went on to attend Wesley Junior College and was a proud graduate of Cornell University in 1960 with a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management. After serving in the Army Reserves as a Drill Instructor at Fort Dix, Peter then rejoined his family’s business and opened the Tuckahoe Inn in 1963. He dedicated his life to the restaurant until he and his mother sold it in 1996. He was immensely proud that Tuckahoe Inn was not just a business but a family to so many. Peter went on to become a realtor and worked at Berger Reality until he retired in 2019. Peter also became the honorary lighthouse keeper for The Hereford Inlet Lighthouse where he volunteered his time from 1997-2016.
Peter was known for his love of history and antiques, banjo playing, flying and most of all his charm and charisma.
