Obituary of James Walker

Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

James Vincent Walker died peacefully at his home in Millville NJ surrounded by love on Monday, February 20, 2023.  Born in Philadelphia, PA to his mother Frances Marie Welsh, he traveled cross-country living in the state of Washington and California before returning east and settling down in Ocean City, New Jersey. He leaves behind one son Adam Vincent Walker of Atlantic City, two daughters by choice Michelle Serrano of Millville, NJ, and Sherry Serrano of Ocean City, NJ as well as one sister, Angela Semonelli and her wife Paula of Swansea, MA, three brothers Christopher Semonelli and his wife Trish of Middletown, RI, Frank Semonelli of Merced, California, and Joseph Semonelli and his wife Betsy Taylor of Jamestown, RI, in addition to many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Jimmy spent the majority of his years enjoying the life he made for himself and the numerous friendships he made along the way in Ocean City, New Jersey.  He was an eclectic man who sold hot dogs in Atlantic City and balloons on the boardwalk in Ocean City. He attended Atlantic City Community College and served in the Marines. He retired from his job as a custodian at Ocean City Primary School.  He was also trained and committed to his work as a civil servant, assisting during times of disaster including Hurricane Katrina.  He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles and New England Revolution fan, traveling far and wide on buses to support his teams!  He supported the John F. Kennedy Library in Boston and the Republican Party.  Anyone who knew Jimmy knew he was always moved to support causes: Save the Whales, the Oceans, the Children, the animals, and so on and so on…he cared deeply.

He rose above many difficult circumstances during his early years as well as toward the end of his life yet always remained humble, grateful, and altruistic; wanting to be of service to others.  He was always known to help people in need…by carrying groceries, shoveling driveways and sidewalks, and purchasing items to give to those less fortunate.  He was a friend and supporter to everyone he met, always offering a kind word of encouragement, appreciation and gift(s).  Please honor Jimmy’s life by freely sharing a kind word or a good deed today.
