
Obituary of Annette P. Dungan
Annette Patton Dungan 97 of Ocean City, New Jersey
Passed away on January 26 at 11:34am.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday February 4th at 12 noon from St Peter's United Methodist Church 501 E. 8th Street, Ocean City, NJ where friends may call from 10:30 am until the time of service. Burial will follow at Wesley United Methodist Church Cemetery 400 Route 610 Petersburg, NJ.
Annette was born in Asheville NC on November 11th 1925. At age eight her family moved to Philadelphia, where she later attended Girls High. At age 16 the family moved to Petersburg NJ, where she graduated from Ocean City High School in 1944. While attending OCHS, she met her future husband George. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the Navy and she enrolled in the Atlantic City Cadet School of Nursing. After graduating, she moved to Chicago and worked at the Veterans Hospital tending to the injured soldiers. Upon returning to New Jersey after the War, she met George again and they married (eloped) on November 7th 1948, followed by a formal wedding in June.
Annette was an outdoor girl fishing and boating with her husband. She was a hard-working, loving mother and a devoted wife for 60 years. She worked as an RN at Shore Memorial Hospital and had various nursing positions between having her children including the position of City Nurse for Ocean City.
Annette was a compassionate and giving person, volunteering to help and take care of many people throughout her life. An active member of St Peter’s Methodist Church, she helped run their Meals on Wheels for the sick. She was involved in many charitable activities and organizations. Later in life she enjoyed playing Bridge and Mahjong with her friends.
Annette was predeceased by her mother Rose Sternberg Erickson and step father Fred Erickson of Ocean City, her father Roy Patton of Asheville NC, her brother Siegfried “Buddy” Patton of Asheville NC, her sister Marjorie Cunningham of Kansas City Kansas, and her granddaughter Kristin Dungan of Somers Point NJ. Surviving are her children, daughter and son in law Marjorie and Stephen Gosin of Mays Landing, George of Ft Meyers FL, Christian of Berlin NJ. Brother Albert DeSantis of Ft Meyers FL. Grandchildren John Conner of Mays Landing and Kelly Dungan of Ft Meyers. Great grandchildren Ty Conner of Galloway NJ, TJ and Tristin of Ft Meyers FL. Also surviving are sister-in-law Mary Green of Ocean City and many nieces and nephews. Memorial donations can be made to St Peter’s United Methodist Church of Ocean City New Jersey.
