Obituary of Lawrence Iacono

Please share a memory of Lawrence to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Lawrence Vincent Iacono, age 78, passed away at his home on Monday, November 14, 2022.

Born and raised in Chester, PA, he lived in Sea Isle City, NJ for the last 40 years. He went to St James High School for Boys, class of ‘61, graduated from St. Joseph's University, and obtained a Master's degree from Temple University and West Chester University, where he spent 35 years as a professor, educating young minds in a field he was so passionate about, Political Science, before retiring in 1999.

Known to most as "Lonzi", he was a talented musician and spent much of his life performing for so many people. He spent his days walking, riding his bike, or scooting around Sea Isle where he made so many friends around town. He was a wordsmith and loved doing jumbles and crossword puzzles. He was also a dedicated lottery player but sadly never hit the big one. He loved talking about growing up in Chester and his days playing baseball. A Philadelphia sports enthusiast, he never missed watching a game. He loved animals, especially his two dogs, Winnie and Daisy. Always the true entertainer, he loved to use his wit to make people laugh. He will be dearly missed by all.

Survivors include his Wife: Nancy (Cotter) Iacono, Daughters (2): Brigid Albany (Ryan) and Corey Comstock (Kevin), Sister: Gloria Carr (Michael), Grandsons (4): Justin and Jordan Albany, Trace and Grady Comstock, and many beloved nieces (6) and nephews (9).

He is predeceased by his Parents: Lawrence and Anna (Fusco) Iacono.

Private services will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be given to a charity he greatly supported: Smile Train (www.smiletrain.org)
