Obituary of Marie Arena

Marie T. Arena, age 67, of Somers Point NJ passed away suddenly at Cooper Medical Center in Camden, NJ, on Monday October 17 2022. Marie was a lifelong resident of the shore area born in Somers Point NJ, on December 5^th, 1954. She grew up in Ocean City NJ, attending St. Augustine school, Ocean City High School, and graduated as Valedictorian of her class. She also was in the Honors Society. Marie started her lifelong career at Shore Memorial Hospital in 1977 in the personnel dept. as a secretary. She later transferred to the education dept. in the early 90s and finally as a secretary in the emergency dept. for Bay Front Emergencies. Marie loved dogs, cats, horses and countless other animals and plants. She was proud of her Italian heritage and made sure you knew it. Above all Marie was a faithful follower of the Catholic Church and strived to follow the examples of Christ. Survivors include her only son Michael, daughter in-law Elizabeth; Sisters Joann and Lucy; and her beloved Grandchildren Emily, Allison, Brandon, and Maddox. Marie was predeceased by her Father and Mother, Valentine and Lucy Arena. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ocean City Humane Society or St. Jude’s Children Hospital. There will be a celebration of her life starting at 10 am with a Mass following at 11 am. Thursday Oct. 27^th   at St. Joseph’s  Catholic Church, 606 Shore Road, Somers Point, NJ. Arrangements are by The Godfrey Funeral Home of Palermo.
