Obituary of Donald Russell Wood
Donald "Russell" Wood, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, October 9, 2022. Born in Philadelphia on August 22, 1953, he lived in Wyncote, PA where he graduated from Cheltenham High School. He worked at Roxy’s Auto Body for a number of years before moving to South Jersey where he started a family and established Russell Wood Drywall. Russ was a former member of the Marmora Volunteer Fire Company. He attended Great Commission Baptist Church under Pastor Robert Stahler as well as Corbin City Baptist Church under Pastor Randy Hooper.
Anyone that knows Russ would expect to see him with a Wawa coffee, watching NASCAR and hanging out with his family. Whatever his boys were involved in, Russ was right there helping and supporting them. Fishing, traveling, and eating a good meal were some of his favorite pastimes, and if there was anything that needed constructing Russ was right there. He loved to build anything from a toy box for his kids to houses, model planes to motor vehicles. Yet his greatest pride was sharing that knowledge with his boys and watching them prosper. He always had something to say, but it was out of pure love and the strong work ethic of “if you are going to do something, do it right”.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Martha Wood, and 3 sons: Andrew (Deborah) Wood, Robert (Kelli) Wood, and Kirby Wood. He is also survived by his sister Debra Jessat, and brothers Philip and Scott Wood. He has three grandchildren: Tyler, Aaron, and Brookelyn Wood. He is preceded in death by his father Kenneth Wood, mother Isabel Wood, and brother David Wood.
This is the legacy we have from you, a husband, father, and grandpa too.
We will always treasure the time that flew.
