Obituary of Angela Mae Graham
A reflection of My Life
I was born on June 26, 1933, in Philadelphia Pa. to the late Margaret and George Roane. I began my education in the catholic school system of Philadelphia PA. and attended Paul Lawrence Dunbar School, before moving to Ocean City as a young teenager. While attending Ocean City High School I became the first black soloist in the school's concert choir, and as you all know my love for singing continued throughout my life. I was recognized as having an angelic voice held dear to so many in the community that provided the sound- track for many memorable memories.
After High school I obtained my LPN license, and worked at Shore Memorial Hospital, specializing in Pediatrics and Obstetrics. Later i was employed as a Supervisor at Ocean Citys Recreation Center while attending Atlantic Community College where I received my associates degree in Business Administration. I then became employed by The Pleasantville Board of Education where I Organized countless field trips and student projects. My love and compassion for the children shined through these positions.
Through my years I've been a faithful and devoted member of St. James AME Church. I've held many positions to include Pastor's Aide Trustee, President of Women's Missionary Society and Director of the Adult and Youth Choirs. After answering my calling, I became a licensed evangelist always sharing the word of God with anyone.
Highlights of my community service include Den Mother, Pack Leader for the Boy Scouts of America, serving on the Ocean City Civil Defense just to name a few. I was fondest of the annual Easter play that many adults' credits for their development in public speaking and self-confidence.
I remained in Ocean City in the home I shared with my late husband Nathaniel Graham. I leave to cherish my memories, six children, Samuel (Carrie) Ford, Don (Al) Ford, Nadeen Nelson, Russell Graham Sr., Craig Graham, and Saundra (Rodney) Stokes, 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 2 sisters, Carolyn Allen and Cythnia Branch of Philadelphia Pa, Sister and Brother-in-law Claudette & Willie Lee Thomas of North Carolina 2 Godchildren. A Host of Nieces, Nephews and Cousins and Friends.
