Please share a memory of Carling to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mott, Carling Shea, 28, of New York City passed away in a bike accident going to work in Times Square at her dream job as a production manager for Nickelodeon. Born and raised in Ocean City NJ, Carling graduated from OCHS in 2012 where she excelled in tennis, lacrosse and competitive sailing. She attended prestigious Syracuse University’s Newhouse School where she pursued a degree in TV, Radio and Film, graduating in 2016. While at Syracuse she was the TV director for Syracuse University, Citrus TV. She was a tour guide and made many life long friends while attending Syracuse. She did a study abroad in her junior year in London and made good use of traveling during that time visiting Spain, Morocco, Turkey and Berlin.
Carling went to NYC to pursue her career and was hired by Nickelodeon. She loved it there and looked forward to going to work everyday. She made many good friends and coworkers who she cherished everyday. It was a fun place to work and she loved every minute of it.
During the Pandemic, she was briefly hired by Genetworx as a manager in charge of setting up covid protocols for TV production sites. Carling was described as a ray of light. “Every room she walked into instantly lit up”.
She left Genetworx to follow her dream and return to her Nickelodeon family, where she rose to become a production manager. She loved her job!
Carling is best defined by her love for life, and family. She loved NYC and the Upper East Side where she lived. Weekends with friends were spent watching football and basketball games at the Stumble-Inn. She loved every part of the city, attending concerts, Broadway shows, and great restaurants with her dearest friends. Last fall she completed the New York Marathon with her roommate Meghan and loved every minute of it. She was recently training for the Chicago Marathon to be held in October.
Carling loved Ocean City and spending time with her family. She loved to bring her friends to the beach and her home on Waterway Road where she enjoyed beach time, bay time and boat time with her family and friends. Finally, she had a special love of nature and watching and following the Osprey Nest across the bay. She looked forward to their arrival in March and couldn’t wait to watch the hatchlings being born and learning to fly.
She is survived by her bereaved parents, James and Janice Mott of Ocean City. Her special Grandmother, (Mimi) Georgia Miller of Somers Point, and her best friend and the love of her life Nick Ross of NYC.
She also leaves behind her Aunts and Uncles Joel, (Linda), Jennifer (Gerry), Jessica (Chris), Jefferson, Barbara (Gerry) and many cousins and many dear friends.
