John M Rose Sr. 81, of Petersburg passed away on Tuesday May 24th 2022 at home with family after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Millville, NJ to George R. Rose Sr. and Flora N. Rose. John graduated from Middle Township High School then did some studying at Glassboro State College for glassblowing. He then joined the Army National Guard where he served as many ranks until his retirement in 1983. Along with the guards he was also employed by NJ Bell and later Verizon working as a splicer/repair man until his retirement in 2003. He was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church where he sang in the choir until his health started declining. He is predeceased by his parents and brother. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Doris-Marie, his three sons John Jr.(Jennifer), Shawn Sr.(Tina) and Chris (Cheryl). Grandchildren Mike, Amanda, Courtney (John H), Shawn Jr. and George, and one great grandson Joseph (Chunky Monkey). Friends may call Thursday evening, June 2nd from six until eight o’clock at The Godfrey Funeral Home of Palermo, 644 South Shore Road, Palermo, NJ. Burial Office and Holy Eucharist will be offered Friday morning, June 3rd at 11 o’clock from Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 30th Street at Bay Avenue, Ocean City, NJ.
