George O. Loder Jr, age 86, passed away at his home surrounded by family on May 23, 2022. He was born in Ocean City in 1936 and spent his entire life in the area. Attending Ocean City High School he was a star athlete and set multiple records in football, also playing basketball and swimming. It was there where he met his wife Theresa to whom he would stay married to until her passing in 2018. George was an avid outdoorsman and was considered by many to be the areas expert on all things hunting and fishing. His love for the outdoors wasn’t limited to just enjoying it, he also loved teaching younger generations about how to hunt black ducks, catch perch, or shoot sporting clays. When he wasn’t outside he was a very talented artist. Well known for his paintings done on old slate roofing tiles with his yellow signature in the bottom corner. Along with painting George spent many hours carving decoys to display or hunt over. He is survived by his three children, Brenda Brown (Bill), George III (Dana), and Edward. Also surviving are six grandchildren; Shanan, Anthony (Kelley), Katy, Nicole, George IV, and Aubrey; along with nine great grandchildren. Services will be held on October 1st at 11 o'clock AM at the Godfrey Funeral Home of Palermo, 644 South Shore Road. Friends may call from 10 o'clock until the time of service.
