Please share a memory of Eileen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Eileen Marie Mullins (nee O’Brien) 79 years of Ocean City, passed away comfortably surrounded by family and friends on Sunday, May 22. Most notable at her passing were the superior caregivers at Shore Memorial Hospital who left an indelible mark on all who witnessed their caring service and dedication toward one of their own. Eileen led a remarkable career in serving, comforting and consulting those in need as a dedicated RN and Director of Nursing at Englewood Hospital in Englewood, NJ. She graduated from Holy Spirit High School, Atlantic City in 1961. By 1964, she was honored to be a member of the first graduating class of Our Lady of Lourdes School of Nursing in Camden NJ. Eileen was a strong woman who never hid her feelings when right and wrong needed to be defined. As the self proclaimed “Madame Mayor” of West Inlet Road, she coordinated and celebrated happy hour with many loving friends whenever possible. She and husband Bob always enjoyed traveling. Eileen loved people and kept busy in her hobbies while often dining at her favorite locales. She liked the Phillies and loved college football but the Eagles were her favorite. To experience a game with Eileen was always an exhilarating and educational experience. She was a true fan and student of the game. She loved the young and found some of her favorite companions in members of the Ocean City High School baseball team. She would sit among them offering valued advice and experiences in an effort to assist them in making their own life choices. She truly cared for the youth and always encouraged them to succeed. Eileen was born in Atlantic City, NJ on May 12, 1943. She is predeceased by her parents James and Catherine O’Brien (nee Duffy), husband Robert Mullins and brother, James J. O’Brien (Carol). She is survived by her loving cousins, most notably Joan, her guardian angel. Eileen will be dearly missed by many wonderful friends and neighbors who were always there for her but most of all, she will be missed by her loving furry companion and best friend, Gracie. Memorial contributions are suggested to either St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org or Humane Society of Ocean City , PO Box 1254, Ocean City, NJ 08226 or hsocnj.org
