Regina (Jeanne) Barunas, (nee Browne) Regina (Jeanne) Barunas, age 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at United Methodist Communities at The Shores on Wednesday May 18, 2022. Jeanne was born and raised in Philadelphia and attended St. Ambrose Elementary School (Class of 1944) and Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls (Class of 1948). In 1950 she met the love of her life, Pete, and they married in 1953. They had five children and throughout their marriage they lived in various places in New Jersey, including Cherry Hill, Bridgewater, Voorhees and Mount Laurel. Jeanne loved Ocean City, traveling, dining out, shopping for bargains, and most of all spending time with family and friends. She was a devoted wife; an incredible mother, grandmother and great-grandmother; a loyal friend; and always fun to be around with her great sense of humor and quick wit. She was proud of her Irish heritage and a devout Catholic; she never missed Sunday Mass or a St. Patrick's Day party. Jeanne is survived by and will be dearly missed by her five children: Mark (Linda), Gary (Maureen), Lynn McComb (Nicholas Kempf), Gail Simon (Michael), Gwen Zervas (David); her ten grandchildren: Philip Barunas, Ryan Barunas (Caitlin), Sean Barunas, Kevin Barunas, Jason McComb, Lauren McGovern (Christopher), Patrick Simon (Kayla Pacan), Kelly Wittenberger (Adam), Erin Nicosia (Joseph), Christopher Zervas; and her three great-grandchildren: Connor McGovern, Hunter McGovern, and Jack Wittenberger. Jeanne is also survived by her beloved sister-in-law Marie Browne, numerous nieces and nephews, many close friends from her childhood and The Shores, and many other friends she met throughout her life. She is predeceased by her husband of sixty-seven years, Pete, her grandson Paul, her siblings Mary Kelly, Joseph Browne, Margaret Browne and James Browne; her brother-in-law William Kelly and sister-in-law Joan Browne. Jeanne's family would like to thank everyone at United Methodist Communities at The Shores for their wonderful care, love, and friendship. On Wednesday, May 25, family and friends are invited to visitation starting at 10 AM and Mass at 11 AM at the Church of the Resurrection, Maximillian Kolbe Parish, 200 Shore Road, Marmora, NJ. Interment to follow Mass at Holy Cross Cemetery, 5061 Harding Highway, Mays Landing, NJ. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jeanne's name to the Holy Spirit Adoration Sisters (The Pink Sisters) 2212 Green Street, Philadelphia, PA 19130. Jeanne often turned to the Pink Sisters when a friend or family member was in need of prayers.
