Obituary of Judith Lyons

Born in Woodbury, NJ and raised on a dairy farm in Mullica Hill, NJ by the late Albert and Gertrude (nee Wilson) Pike. She was a graduate of Clearview Regional High School, class of 1966 where she served as the first school mascot, “The Pioneer”. Judy worked at the Seaville Acme for over 30 years in the bakery department and famously known to all as the Cookie Lady. You always knew she was working when you would hear her “hot fresh bread, right out of the oven” announcement. A trip to the Acme wasn’t complete without a stop at the bakery for a little chat. She was Nana Judy to everyone’s kids and had funny nicknames for them, an ‘adopted’ Nana and Mom to many. She earned a varsity letter in friendship, facetime, galivanting, the lottery, thrifting, candy crush and treasure hunting…if you needed something, just call Judy. Judy genuinely loved life, her friends, and above all her family. She was the best Mom who loved and gave of herself like no other. Her grandkids were her absolute greatest joy in life and she was not afraid to let everyone know it. She was always the first to every event, the last to leave, the loudest cheerleader on the sidelines, the greatest adventure seeker and the best teacher of everything. We’ve all learned valuable lessons from her and that’s why it’s hard to believe she is gone and we’re not sure what life will be like continuing without her, but we do know she leaves behind a legacy. She’d want us to keep saying her name, keep sharing the funny stories and keep living life as if she were here. If there’s a few things we could all learn from her it would be to love the ones around you, live life to the absolute fullest and if you have a chance to help someone out- do it, don’t be afraid to stand out & always, I mean always tell the ones around you how much they mean to you. We promise to continue to make you proud, until we meet again. In addition, she was predeceased by her husband of 36 years, Alvin Lyons in 2003 Surviving are her three daughters Monica (Bob) Jones, Shelly (Barry) Quinn and Terri (Jimmy Keever) Lyons. Also surviving are her grandchildren Jennifer (Gary) Logan, Bobby Jones Jr, Ryann-Claire (Kevin) McMahon, Olivia (Joseph Quinn) Quinn, Garrett Bojaciuk & Jaxson Kennedy, and Great Grandchildren Brett Logan & Brody McMahon, Sisters Shirley Baker, Patsy (Virgil) Eachus, Brother Albert (Pat) Pike and sister-in-law Jeanette Hilley A viewing and time to visit with the family will be Thursday, May 12, 2022 from 10 until 12 o’clock noon at The Godfrey Funeral Home of Palermo, 644 South Shore Road, Palermo, NJ when a time to share memories of Judy will begin at 12 o’clock noon. Burial will follow in Seaside Cemetery, Palermo, NJ. Condolences for the family may be left at www.godfreyfuneralhome.com
