Through the years, we went to see Uncle John's football games because my parents loved to go and many times there was a gathering afterwards. Also, spending six weeks at the shore in Ocean City with Aunt Pat, Uncle John, their children, my parents and siblings, was a special time; fond memories go back a lifetime. I remember his kindness and would know his laughter anywhere, as well as Aunt Pat's. With love, Denise

Condolences to the extended family of Coach. The coaching profession has lost a true legend of the game of football but all of you have lost much more and my prayers are with you. Coach was simply the best at his craft and those of us a bit younger were able to witness a true genius. May he Rest In Peace and may the family be comforted with the many memories and cherish the many people John helped along his path. I count myself as one of them. God Bless

"To John, Kevin, Michelle and family,
Please accept my sincere condolences on the passing of your dad. . Coach Oberg was the ultimate professional and role model. He was an inspiring mentor, teacher and coach. I learned so much from him; how to be a leader, place team ahead of individual, sacrifice, among others. He taught us to always put out our best effort during practices and especially in games and that has carried over in life. I think of his teachings often. He always placed getting good grades ahead of sports. I regret not being able to visit him before he passed. He will be missed."

John, Kevin, Michele and all of the other loving members of Coach John Oberg's family, please accept our sincere and heartfelt condolences. Coach Oberg was SPECIAL and he will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him! You can also take pride in knowing that he served his country in the U.S. Army. Although my wife and I did not attend Delsea Regional High School, we had four children that did: Michele '84, John, '86, Valerie, '88, and Greg, '93. John and Greg were football players and Coach John Oberg was a POSITIVE influence in their lives (they both graduated from West Point)! We have a lot of fond memories of John Oberg and Sal Marchese, Sr. during our children's years at Delsea. Our fond memories are shared by many, many other Delsea parents! Coach Oberg's legacy lives on!!!!!!! Rest in peace, John! Well done, coach! God Bless the Oberg family!

To John, Kevin & Michele and the entire Oberg Family, I extend my sincerest condolences on your dad's recent passing. Having spent my teenage years as a neighbor of the Oberg family, I want you to know how much all of my family members respected yours. It took me many years to address your father as "John", having always thought of him as "Mr. Oberg". Not only was your dad a great football coach but truly a great person as well. He will be sorely missed by all of us.

Dear John, Kevin, Michele and family. Kathy '65 and I '66 send our sincere condolences and prayers to you and your family. Your father and mother were role models for us from the time they were our neighbors in Franklinville. Kathy remembers seeing them in church in Malaga every Sunday and then in school as a teacher at Delsea. Your father always led by example and made a positive impression on everyone that he came in contact with. We were honored to have them as guests at our wedding 51 years ago. Whether it was in Gym class, Health or Drivers Ed or on the football field, he had a gifted approach to teaching and making all students feel equally important. He was one of those special coaches who naturally commanded respect. Most importantly, he developed and embodied the winning spirit of Delsea Regional High School!
Warm Regards,
Bill & Kathy Giordano Coblentz

Sending our deepest sympathies and condolences to the Oberg family. You probably won’t remember us; my parents Lou Robinson were close friends of your grandparents Fran and Charlie Belmont along with uncles. Many times I went to see your father coach over the years starting Delmar DE. May the precious memories of happier times give you peace and comfort during this time of sadness and transition. Peace Lou Robinson, Jr Garnet Valley, PA
