Obituary of Alice V. Grau

Please share a memory of Alice to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Alice Veronica Grau was born in Cranford, NJ to Albert Ladosz and Veronica Kohinski Ladosz. From Cranford, her family moved to Roselle to a house her father built. She graduated from Abraham Clark High School and took classes at the Newark School of Fine and Industrial Arts. During World War II she worked for the Army at Newark Airport, then as a secretary for an architectural firm in Roselle. She married her beloved husband, Harry, after his return from WW II. They lived in Roselle, then moved to Middletown, NJ. Alice was involved heavily in her husband’s businesses for decades and was always there for family, supporting her children's extracurricular activities and helping the older generation. She volunteered with her church, the school library, Scouts, and others. After their move to Harmony, NJ, she was a valued secretary at St Luke’s Episcopal Church in Phillipsburg. Upon retirement, they moved to Seaville to be close to their grandchildren. She was a gifted seamstress. She was an avid reader all her life. She always said, as long as you have your friends A, B and C, you should never be lonely. Her listening ear and concerned heart will be greatly missed. She is survived by her son Robert and his wife Debora, his daughters Amanda and Danielle; her daughter Leigh and her husband Michael; and her daughter Jane and her stepchildren Jeremy and Douglas. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
