Obituary of Philip Paul Perri, Jr.

Please share a memory of Philip to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Philip Paul Perri, Jr., age 74, passed away at home in Egg Harbor Township on Monday, April 18, 2022, surrounded by loved ones, after listening to his entire playlist of oldies music. Philip was a leap year baby born in Carbondale, PA on February 29th, 1948. He would remind you that he was not 74 years old but rather 17, the number of actual birthdays lived. He was raised in Ocean City, NJ and attended St. Augustine’s Regional School, Class of ’62 and St. Augustine’s College Preparatory School, Class of ’66. He was honored to be a graduate of Villanova University, Class of ’70, and a lifelong fan of Wildcats basketball. Philip proudly served as a Pennsylvania State Trooper for 12 years, stationed in Avondale, PA. He often reminisced about this time and expressed great joy and satisfaction in his service, comradery, and commendations received. In 1982, Philip moved back to Ocean City with his young family and started a new career as Manager and President of the Forum Motor Inn. He was a member of the Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce, of which he served a term as President and on both the Executive Committee and Board of Directors. Phil loved basketball: playing, coaching, refereeing, and watching it. His favorite stores were Wallace’s Hardware and Home Depot. There was no home or work repair project too big or small that he wouldn’t tackle, often with the help of his buddies in the trade. Phil enjoyed music, a fun party, a good joke, and being with friends and family, of which he had many. He was a great dancer, a good friend, a loving husband, and the best dad. He will be forever remembered for his boisterous laugh. Philip was preceded in death by his parents, Philip P. Perri, Sr. and Mary (Guarracino). He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years Barbara Meredith Perri, daughter Monica Murphy (Padraic), son Philip Perri (Erin), sister Fran Jerome (Dominic), former spouse and mother of his children Melodie Perri, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jonathan and Nancy Law, and a large family of cousins, nieces, and nephews whom he loved so dearly. A Service of Memory and Love will be offered Tuesday, April 26th at 12 noon from The Godfrey Funeral Home of Palermo, 644 South Shore Road, Palermo, NJ where friends may call from 11 am until the time of service.
