Obituary of Margaret E. Wilkins

Margaret Elizabeth (Perkins) Wilkins, 67, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 13th, 2022. Margaret was born in Philadelphia, PA, to her late parents William R. Perkins and Janet Ruth (Berry) Perkins. She grew up in Abington Township, PA and graduated from Abington High School in 1972. She completed her undergraduate studies at Shippensburg University and graduated in 1976. She later obtained her Master's in Education from Beaver College (now Arcadia University) for the State of Pennsylvania and attended Glassboro State College (now Rowan University) to obtain her Master's in Education for the State of New Jersey. Margaret met Robert M. Wilkins, her loving husband of 35 years, in Ocean City, NJ where they used to frequently visit for summer vacation. They settled in Ocean City, NJ where they raised their two children, William and Lindsay. Margaret devoted her career to teaching. She worked for over 10 years at the Abington School District and over 30 years at the Upper Township School District as a Special Education Teacher until she retired in June of 2017. Throughout her career she was a dedicated member of several education associations such as NEA, NJEA, and CMCEA. Marge loved to spend time with family, have phone calls with friends, host parties or attend other social events, or engage in any good debate. Her hobbies included antiquing and frequent trips to TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Hospital Thrift Stores, or any other store where she could find a good bargain. Margaret is preceded in death by her brother Robert Perkins. She is survived by her sister Janet (Perkins) Biglin and her husband Richard Biglin and their two children Sarah (Biglin) Henry and Katherine (Biglin) Hanson. She is also survived by her late brother's daughter, Jenna (Perkins) Willoughby. A viewing will be held on Friday, January 21, 2022 at the Godfrey Funeral Home in Palermo, NJ between 7PM and 9PM.
