Obituary of Edward J. Reynolds

Edward J. Reynolds, 83, of Smith Mountain Lake, VA and Tuckahoe, NJ passed away peacefully on Friday, September 10, 2021 at home with his family by his side. Born in Binghamton, NY to the late Arthur and Agnes (nee Haley) Reynolds. He lived in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Georgia before settling in Smith Mountain Lake, Va. He was preceded in death by his brother Leroy “Bud” Reynolds. Ed served in the United States Navy before receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1960. He later worked his way up the ranks of IBM, retiring as a manager after 32 years. During his retirement, Ed volunteered his time in service to the American Red Cross Virginia Region and Lake Christian Ministries of Smith Mountain Lake. While with the Red Cross, he was deployed to Southern Louisiana for an extended time after Hurricane Katrina. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kathleen (nee Knapp) Reynolds, daughter: Theresa (Ed) Carter, sons: Jerry (Kate) Reynolds, Steve (Sabrina) Reynolds and five grandchildren: Ashley (Frank) Smyth, Edward Jr and Johnathan Carter, Kevin and Meghan Reynolds. A Mass of Resurrection will be offered Thursday, September 16, 2021 at 11 o’clock from Church of the Resurrection of St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish, 200 West Tuckahoe Road, Marmora, NJ where friends may call from 10:30 until the time of Mass.
