Obituary of Terence Kearney

Terence “Terry” John Kearney, age 79, of Ocean City, NJ passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Friday July 9th, 2021. Terry was born at French Hospital in New York City, and grew up in the Rego Park section of Queens. He graduated from Newtown High School and went on to earn a degree in Business Administration from Ursinus College, where he met his wife of 59 years, Carol (Wolfrom). The Kearney’s lived in Evanston, IL, Haddonfield, NJ, York, PA, and Williamsburg, VA, before retiring full-time to Ocean City, NJ. The Kearney’s have spent every summer in Ocean City since they bought a summer home there in 1973. Carol introduced Terry to Ocean City as her parents owned a summer home on the island. Terry was the owner of several Culligan Water Conditioning dealerships in York, PA, State College, PA, and Columbus, OH. He was also Director of Cable TV Operations for Susquehanna Broadcasting. He served as President of the Pennsylvania Cable TV Association, National President of the Culligan Dealer Association and Advisory Council, President of the Strand-Capital Performing Arts Center in York, PA, and also served on the Board of Directors of the Crispus Attucks Community Center. Terry enjoyed cooking, Broadway musicals, playing cards with friends, and deep-sea fishing on both coasts, as well as in Mexico and Australia. Terry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law and friend. Terry is survived by his wife Carol (Wolfrom), daughter Karen Morris and her husband Mark of Alexandria, VA, daughter Katie Mathew and her husband George of Boston, MA, a brother, Tim Kearney of Kellogg, ID and two grandsons, Daniel and Jacob Morris. Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Alberta Kearney. A Celebration of Life will be held August 2nd at 1 pm at Grace Lutheran Church, 11 East Dawes Avenue, Somers Point, NJ 08224.
