McCardell, Charles H., Sr. of Somers point, NJ passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2013. Charlie was born in Westmont, New Jersey and moved to Ocean City in 1946 and remained a resident until moving to Somers Point in 2011. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving with the United States Army, receiving his honorable discharge from active duty in 1955. Charlie owned and operated Pontiere Texaco and Pontiere Auto Service with Robert Pontiere in Ocean City for 51 years. He was also a volunteer with Atlanticare I.D. Clinic and Family Medicine in Marmora for many years. Charles enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, flying his Cessna, taking cruises on the ocean, and long vacations in Key West. He enjoyed 47 years of summers on the Brighton Place beach with his family and friends. Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Andrea McCardell (nee Scheer) of Somers Point, NJ four children: Kim Adams and her husband Tim of St Joseph, Michigan; Amy McCardell of Seaville, NJ; Charlie McCardell, Jr and his wife, LuAnne of Mays Landing, NJ; Jennifer Little and her husband, Fred of Ocean City, NJ, and 15 grandchildren: Julia, Timmy, Haley, Grace and Alyssa Adams, Patrick and Nicholas Cocco, Shawn and Samantha Tiernan, Justin and Brielle Bowers, Harry and Hannah McCardell, Georgia and Bryton Little and one great grand-daughter, Coral and another due in March; twin brother Bill and his wife Carolee of Kissimmee, Florida and sister Barbara Ann DeBaufre of Ocean City, NJ and sister-in-law Gladys McCardell of Linwood; and many, many nieces and nephews. Charles was predeceased by his father, C. Paul McCardell, Sr and his mother Anne Hearn McCardell, and brother C. Paul McCardell, Jr and sister-in-law Joan Y. McCardell. Friends may call Friday, October 11, 2013 from 10 to 10:45 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 2998 Bay Avenue, Ocean City, NJ and a Service of Memory and Love will be immediately following. Burial will be private.
