Obituary of Victoria Ruffner
~~Ruffner, Victoria 93 of Galloway, NJ passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Seashore Gardens in Galloway, NJ.
Born in Manhattan, NY to Konrad and Katharine Hsu, Victoria moved to China as an infant, returning to Taunton, Massachusetts at age 5 with her mother and two younger sisters. After growing up in Taunton, Victoria worked at the Museum of Natural History in Manhattan, where she met her husband, Albert Ruffner. They moved to Colorado where they had three children before returning to the east coast, where they settled in Parsippany NJ, had a fourth child, and raised their family. Victoria served as Church Organist at St. Gregory’s Episcopal Church in Parsippany.
After the marriage ended, Victoria worked in Data Entry for Dell Publishing Company for 20 years until retiring. She moved to Texas to connect with family and help out with grandchildren. Her 10 years in San Antonio, Texas brought her great joy, as she was actively involved with her church, her community, and most of all her family. She returned to Ocean City, NJ in 2005 following the death of her oldest daughter, to be near family. In Ocean City she brought great joy to her family, particularly her grandchildren. She was a parishioner at St. Frances Cabrini Church for 7 years before moving to Galloway, NJ in 2012.
She was predeceased by her parents, Dr. Konrad and Katharine Hsu, her sister Theodora D. Du, and Alicia Hsu, and her daughter, Theodora Deane Ruffner. Surviving are three children, Julia K. Martin (William) of Ocean City, Albert B. Ruffner of Blackwood, NJ Patricia A. Ruffner of Staten Island, NY, five grandchildren, Patrick J., William J., Sara V. Martin, Amy Safrankova, Brigid Conroy and one great grandchild, Adalaide Ru Martin.
A Memorial Mass will be offered Saturday morning, November 11th at ten o’clock from St. Frances Cabrini RC Church of St. Damien Parish, 2nd Street at Atlantic Avenue, Ocean City, NJ where friends may call from 9:30 AM until the time of mass.
