Obituary of Clara Garbutt

Clara D. Garbutt, aged 98, passed away on September 19 at The Villa Raffaella in Pleasantville, NJ.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA, ,Clara graduated from Plains High School and lived in Atlantic City before moving to Pleasantville, where she resided for more than 60 years.   Clara was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a dedicated member of the Beacon Evangelical Church.  She enjoyed spending her time at the church and taking care of the nursery and a very lengthy prayer chain.  She was active as a Sunday School teacher, a 4-H leader and a friend to everyone she met. Her pot-luck dinners were known and enjoyed by family as well as friends.

Survivors include her four children; George (Christine), Robert (Judith), James (Debbie) and Patricia;  Grandchildren: Robert Garbutt, Jeffrey Garbutt, Matthew Garbutt ,Daniel Garbutt , Edward Zimmerman, Michael Zimmerman, Mary Ann and James Garbutt..  She is also survived by thirteen great-grand-children, sisters-in-law; Dolores Garbutt ,Marylou Garbutt and many nieces and nephews. Her family fondly remembers her friends from Shady Pines; Stella and Julie, The Absecon McDonalds Coffee Group, the nurses from Heartland Hospice, Wilma Voresek, and - in particular - the Nuns, aids and employees at The Villa Raffaella for their wonderful care.

Clara is preceded in death by her husband, George Garbutt and a son, Jess Garbutt.

A Memorial service for Clara will be held on Sunday, October 1,  at 2:00 PM at the Beacon Evangelical Church on 6th avenue in Galloway Township.  A visitation period will precede the service from 1:00 to 2:00.
