Sye, David William, - 88 of Ocean City, NJ Passed away on January 15, 2023. Born April 12, 1934 in Southampton, PA. He graduated from Ocean City High School in 1952. Dave served in the US Army stationed at Angel Island in San Francisco, California and at Fort Dix in New Jersey. In the early years he worked at Lenox China. Later he enjoyed and retired from an extended career with Calgon Corporation/Merck where his customers came to rely on him to go beyond his salesmanship and fix their industrial machines, which he gladly did. Auto racing was his passion. You often found him rooting for his favorite NASCAR drivers and tuning into Formula One races. He had a love for boating and taught his children how to water ski. He was a member of the Ocean City Baptist Church bowling league for 30 years. He loved the game of bowling and volunteered as the secretary treasurer for the league. As the weather warmed Dave found his way to the golf course with friends and later with his grandchildren. With practice comes shared wisdom and in this case Dave/aka Pop Pop told his grandkids to “Never leave your putts short”. From the birth of his first grandchild he embraced his role as Pop Pop; and as each grandchild was born into the family he found endless joy. He was deeply religious and devoted to the Lord, spending many Sundays witnessing at the Cape May County Jail after church services. Dave and his wife, Marylyn were the king and queen of hospitality. They welcomed any and all to their charming Ocean City, NJ home filled with love and the best ocean breezes that beckoned everyone to Dave’s favorite spot on the front porch.
