Paulette Malinda Sharkey, - 69, of Manassas, VA,
Our Beloved mother, Paulette passed away on August 26, 2022 after a long courageous battle with cancer. She fought a good fight, but the Lord decided it was time to ease her pain and called her home. Although we are sad, we are comforted to know that she suffers no more.
Paulette Malinda Sharkey was born to the late Willie Lee and George Sharkey Sr. on August 31, 1952 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was one of six children, and she held a special place in the family because she was the only girl.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she was educated in the Philadelphia School System and subsequently obtained her certification in nursing. Paulette later relocated to Cape May Courthouse and Ocean City, New Jersey and then Manassas, Virginia. She devoted 20 years of her life as a nurse caring for patients at Shore Memorial Hospital in Somers Point, New Jersey and provided long term care to patients in their homes while employed at South Jersey Home Care and at the United Methodist Communities at The Shores in Ocean City, New Jersey.
Throughout her life, she was married twice and was blessed to have 6 children, Christopher, Jerome, Hasan, Lorraine, Jermaine and Katrina. All of whom she loved.
Paulette accepted the Lord as her savior and lived her life as a devoted Christian. She was a member of Grace Church in Dumfries, Virginia. Prior to moving to Virginia, she was an active member of St. Peter’s United Methodist Church in Ocean City, New Jersey for 7 years. She sang alto in St. Peter’s Church Choir and Masterworks Choir for 11 years and was a member of Eve Circle. Paulette enjoyed bible study, singing, listening to music, and attending concerts. She also enjoyed traveling, was fond of going on cruises and was a movie fanatic. She was very artistic and had a passion for creating beautiful baskets as gifts. Paulette was beloved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her!
She was preceded in death by one brother, William Sharkey.
She is survived by her sons, Christopher Scarborough (Janean), Jerome Scarborough, Hasan Scarborough (Theresa), Jermaine Yow, her daughters, Lorraine Singleton (Kevin), Katrina Yow, her brothers, George Jr., Raymond, John, Keith, 21 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving relatives and dear friends.
