Chettie Sorrentino (nee De Lorenzis), 99 years, quietly passed away at Shore Memorial Hospital, Somers Point, on April 2, 2022 at 12:45 pm. Her daughter and both granddaughters were at her bedside, holding her hands, shortly before the time of her passing. Mrs. Sorrentino was born and raised in Paterson, NJ where she resided with husband Lawrence and daughter Elaine for most of her life. She graduated from Central H.S and went on to become a trained x ray technician and worked in a doctor's office. For most of her life she was a wife, mother and homemaker. She briefly worked at the Dumont factory (East Paterson) and for Fairbanks Morse (Fair Lawn). She resided for a time in Little Egg Harbor with husband, Larry until his death in 2005; later relocated to live with her daughter, Elaine, in Petersburg. Her loss will be profoundly felt by her family. She was a true matriarch: daughter, war bride, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her loss signifies an end of an era as she outlived everyone of her generation in our family. She was extremely strong willed, independent and devoted to her family. She was truly a force to be reckoned with. An excellent cook, she was all about food! Traditional family holiday dinners and birthday cakes! Lovingly prepared. She was very much loved by her family and will be sorely missed. For many years, she enjoyed weekly mahjong games with her circle of friends. Later, she fiercely dedicated herself to being the sole nursemaid and caretaker of husband Lawrence, the love of her life, as he battled Parkinson's disease. Survivors include: Daughter Elaine, Grandchildren Christopher (spouse Kendra), Leslie (spouse Jon) & Katie (spouse Angelo). Great Grandchildren include: Coors, Cameron, Josh, Hannah, Matthew, Davis and Reiss. She was predeceased by her husband Lawrence and her only sister Aida. Memorials may be donated to Mayo Clinic – to help fund Parkinson's Research in memory of and to honor Chettie and Lawrence Sorrentino's battle with this horrible disease.
