DeForest, Janice Streeter, of Ocean City, left this world on February 19, 2021, full of joy and love for her family, and full of thankfulness to her God. Janice was born February 24, 1931 in Vineland, NJ. She married her husband George in 1953 and they were together until his death in 1989. Janice and George moved their family to Ocean City in 1975. She worked for the State of New Jersey for many years. Her position with Employment Services suited her abilities and her obvious heart to serve others. Janice volunteered at CASA, the Shores and St. Peter’s United Methodist Church. She was an avid, life-long bridge player, enjoyed singing hymns, and loved the beauty of God’s creation, especially Ocean City’s beaches and her view from her living room. Her kindness and selfless love were most clearly seen in how she cared for her family. They were her constant source of joy and concern. Her consistent reply to family checking in on her, even in her last days, was “if you are all ok, I’m ok.” Her family’s great sadness about her passing is easily surpassed by their thankfulness in having her in their lives. Janice is survived by her four daughters, seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren: daughters Caron Cosden (Gary), Beth DeForest, Susan Paone (Ed), and Sandra Roberts (Brian); grandchildren Michael Cosden (Abbey), Jessica Cosden (Dan), Ed Paone (Mallory), Shauna Shull (David), Amanda Mumaw (Graham), Alyson Kendall and Nathan Roberts; great-grandchildren Tyler, Brianna, Cayden, Hannah, Jacob, Emmet, Andrew, Avery, Brooke, Hannah and Otis. Janice was a long-time member of St. Peter’s United Methodist Church in Ocean City. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Peter’s at 501 East 8th Street, Ocean City, NJ 08226, or to Atlantic Christian School, 391 Zion Rd, Egg Harbor Township, NJ 08234 There will be an opportunity to greet the family and offer condolences on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at St. Peter’s from 3 to 4 PM.
