Ernest P. Hamann, who lived a remarkable 95 wonderful years, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2021 at The Shores at Wesley in Ocean City, NJ. He was an Ocean View resident for over 40 years. Mr. Ernest P. Hamann was born November 2, 1925 in Northeast Philadelphia, PA to Ernest and Elsie Hamann. Ernest was married to the love of his life, Alice (Di Luzio), for 44 and a half years. His wife, that he loved and cherished so much, passed before him in 2008, and they are now reunited together in Heaven. He was an incredibly strong person, representing the character of his generation. He lived through the Great Depression, WWII, which he served in, and the global pandemic. Through all those events, his perspective, strength and attitude were a testament to his character. Ernest was an outgoing person who loved people. Everyone who met him loved him too. The love he gave and received from family, friends and neighbors never ceased. He had many friends in his long life that became like family to him. Ernest attended Northeast Highschool, Staunton Military Academy in Virginia, Pierce College as well as FELS Law Institute at the University of Pennsylvania. Ernest served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a Non Comm Officer in China, India and Burma Theatre. He worked for the Philadelphia Police Department from April 18, 1947 until July 7, 1975. When he retired, he worked in Security for Trump Plaza in Atlantic City, NJ. He was a Post Commander at the American Legion in Tuckahoe, NJ. He was also a lifetime member of the American Legion and VFW. His interests included: reading, daily crossword puzzles, cryptogram, listening to Big Band and Frank Sinatra music, competing in bowling tournaments at the Commodore Club in Sea Isle City and most importantly, spending time with family and friends. At his request, the service and internment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Legion, VFW or Disabled Paralyzed Veterans.
