Robert F. Lemon passed away comfortably at his residence on January 3, 2021. Bob was born on December 4, 1934. He grew up in Linwood and graduated from Pleasantville High School in 1953. In 1955, he married Mary Lou Snyder. He began his career in public service as a dispatcher for Egg Harbor Township and in 1965, he became Egg Harbor Township’s first full-time Code Official and spent 33 years in that role. He served as the President of the Building Officials Association of NJ from 1986-1988; a member of the Building Official Code Administrators Board of Directors from 1992-1997 and was awarded the Wilbur H. Lind, Building Inspector of the Year Award (1988). He also taught at Atlantic Community College. Bob spent 18 years as a member of the Atlantic County Disabled Citizens Advisory Board. He was awarded special recognition for that role in 2010 at the Donald J. Sykes Award Ceremony. He joined the Bargaintown Volunteer Fire Company in 1960 and was a Lifetime Member. Bob was a proud member of the Independent Order of Oddfellows (Lodge No. 213). His hobbies included photography (for which he won several awards), woodworking, and traveling around the country in his RV. Bob is predeceased by his wife Mary Lou, brother (Thomas) and sister -in-law (Bernadette). He is survived by daughter Donna (Richard) Burger and son Robert (Patricia) Lemon of EHT; grandchildren Richard (Stephanie) Burger, Heather (Michael) D’Addario, Deven Burger, Kelly Burger, and John (Chelsea) Burger and 11 great-grandchildren; niece Fran (Mark) Ludwick and nephew Charles (Kelli) Lemon and his loyal cat, Bootsie. His Memorial Service will be offered Saturday, January 9th at 12 noon from The Godfrey Funeral Home of Egg Harbor Township, 4008 English Creek Avenue, Egg Harbor Township, NJ where friends may call from ten o'clock until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Bargaintown Volunteer Fire Company or the Ocean City Humane Society.
