Obituary of Elsa Quinn

Elsa S. Quinn passed away peacefully on April 21, 2017 in Cape May Court House, New Jersey. She was born on July 5, 1924 in Pfaffendorf, Silesia, Germany to Anna and Bruno Scheuermann. Elsa met and fell in love with an American soldier, Francis M. Quinn, at the end of World War II. They were married in Munich, Germany and moved to the United States in 1951. She traveled and lived throughout the United States as an Air Force wife. Elsa and Frank had two daughters, Christine and Bridget. Elsa was widowed in 1959 and never remarried. She worked her entire life, sometimes three jobs at one time, to provide a wonderful life for her daughters. Elsa lived a full, joyous life of 92 years. She will be remembered as a strong, independent woman who loved Germany, gardening, bird watching, crocheting, and baking Christmas cookies. Elsa is survived by her daughters Christine St. Jean (John) of Brooklyn, Connecticut and Bridget Chiappini (America) of Marmora, New Jersey, four grandchildren Nathan St. Jean (Nora), Laura St. Jean (Morgan MacLaren), Erin Chiappini (Joseph Smiley), Hilary Chiappini (Austin Starin), and three great grandchildren Gabriel, Viviana, and Julian St. Jean. She will be greatly missed by her family. Arrangements will be handled by Godfrey Funeral Homes. Services will be private and will take place in Danielson, Connecticut, where Elsa will be buried next to her husband, Frank at Holy Cross Cemetery in Danielson, Connecticut. www.godfreyfuneralhome.com.
