Obituary of Robert Fleming

Fleming, Robert P., 86 years young, died peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, March 5, 2017 in Ocean City, New Jersey. Born in Red Bank, N.J. Lived in South Philadelphia, Sea Isle City, Ellenton, Florida, and Ocean City, NJ.

Robert is survived by his wife, Faith (Paynter/White), daughters Cheryl Ann Fleming-Moos (Bob), Kathy White-Mackie (Mark), Denise White-Christiansen (Brian) and Lisa (White) Pagano. Robert was also a wonderful grandfather to Winnie DeAngelo, (Steve), Jessica Ruggiano, (Rick). Raymond Moos, (Melissa), Bobby Moos, (Sarah), Kyle Mackie, Dana Christiansen, Eric, Julianna, and Laura Pagano. Loving Great-Grandfather to Maggie DeAngelo, (the light of his life!), Harriet, Billy, & Benjamin Moos. Sisters, Dorothy McPeak (Jack deceased), Mary L Reim (John), Brother Joseph Trainor (Linda)

Robert is preceded in death by his first wife, Winnie Fleming (Druce), his parents, William and Catherine (Burke) Fleming, Brother, William Fleming (Sarah), Sister Kassie Mozitiz (Allyn), and Granddaughter Lauren Moos.

Robert was a Senior Vice President of Beneficial Savings Bank, He was the President of the Pennsylvania Mortgage Bankers Association. A thirty eight year veteran at Beneficial, he was the senior officer in charge of Mortgage Loan Services. He served many years as Chairman of various Committees including Education, FHA (HUD), VA, Freddie Mac, and Fannie Mae.

Educated in South Philadelphia, he graduated from Southeast Catholic High School for Boys (later renamed Saint John Neumann High School).

In 1951 and 1952 he served as a Technical Sergeant with the renowned First Marine Division, in Korea. He continued this association with his membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars (V.F.W.) 1963, Sea Isle City, N.J. His other memberships included the Philadelphia’s Catholic Philopatrain Literary Institute, The Commodore Club of Sea Isle City, and he served as Chairman of the Sea Isle City Planning Board.

Robert was an avid Golfer who enjoyed his family, traveling and Life!

A Service of Memory and Love will be offered Thursday at 12 o’clock noon from The Godfrey Funeral Home, 809 Central Avenue, Ocean City, NJ where friends may call from 11 o’clock until the time of service.
