Obituary of Thomas Barry


Thomas J. Barry, 86, of Sea Isle City, NJ passed away July 12, 2017 at his home.

 Born in Camden, NJ, he was a 1950 graduate of Camden Catholic High School where he was a member of the 1948 State Champion football team.  While attending college at St. Francis College he was drafted into the US Navy where he served from 1952 until his Honorable Discharge in 1954. He later earned his degree in Commerce and Economics from St. Francis College in 1957.

After college Tom went to work for The National Catholic Decency in Reading Program where he had a successful five years until accepting a position with Ethicon. While at Ethicon he had received many sales awards before being promoted to the Home office in Arlington, TX as the Director of Product Management.

He later started his own medical equipment company, Mediquip, Inc., and a Home Care division in Denver, CO which expanded to Texas and Utah. He also got into the manufacture of Oxygen concentrators opening Mountain Medical, Inc. and later began manufacturing cold sterilizing solution for medical equipment opening Metrix, Inc.

Tom had many interests, he bought an Automatic Fire Extinguisher company and became involved with the building of luxury homes in the Denver Area.

He was an active member of his community no matter where he lived. He was elected County Committeeman in Riverdale, NJ a member of the Rotary Club in Littleton, CO and volunteered in the Cardiac section of the Naples Community Hospital. He was inducted into the Camden Catholic High School Hall of Family in 2011.

Surviving are his wife: Judy (nee Holveck), his children: Thomas, Daniel, Patricia, Denise Weinerman (husband David), Judi Barrett and grandchildren: Thomas Marvin, Robin, Shawna, Thomas, Noah, James, Alexandra, Samantha and four great grandchildren and his brother David (wife Madeline).

His Memorial Mass will be offered 11am Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at St. Joseph’s RC Church, 44th and Landis Sea Isle City, N.J. where friends may call from 9 until 10:45am.

Burial will be private.
