Melissa Anne Trout-Baron, 53, died at home on April 5, 2017 after a brave battle with breast cancer.
Born in Cape May Court House, NJ, Melissa lived in various cities in the United States as well as England and Australia. She graduated from Jefferson University to become an RN and then earned her Master’s from Stockton University to become an Advanced Practice Nurse.
Melissa started her professional career on Wall Street in the stock market before finding her true calling as a nurse practitioner. She recently had started a private practice in Cape May Court House serving the needs of the local community.
Melissa enjoyed growing up in Sea Isle City, scuba diving, and was an avid reader. As her family grew she became heavily involved in her children’s activities including crew, theater, girl scouts and PTA. She had a strong passion for animal welfare and donated her time and love to the Beacon Animal Rescue.
Survivors include her husband Andrew, her sons Ian and Oliver and daughters, Alexandra and Katherine; her brothers Howard T. Trout III, Jamie T. Bitting, and Jonathann Shannon; and her sisters Lynda Fraizer, and Jocealynn Shannon. Melissa is also survived by her mother Anne M. Gewant, and father Howard T. Trout, Jr. Melissa enjoyed being a part of a very large family of many loving aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Her beloved brother Jamie Shannon preceded Melissa in death.
A memorial will be held in her honor on Saturday, April 8th at the Italian American Club, 309 John F. Kennedy Boulevard in Sea Isle City, NJ at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to Beacon Animal Rescue, 701 Butter Road, Ocean View, NJ 08230.
